The European Biogas Association (EBA) have released the European Biomethane Map for 2025. This map tracks all biomethane plants across Europe, both in development and those who are already operating.
The map shows strong growth in the sector with 165 new plants beginning operation since 2024, with total numbers increasing to 1678.
The EBA has identified a growing commitment from industry with a total of 28bn EUR allocated for investment in biomethane production.
In the past year the UK has added 8 new biomethane plants, bringing the total number to 119.
