Hydrogen Development in Ballymena

Powerhouse Ballymena Facility

Powerhouse Energy have submitted plans to develop a new hydrogen production facility at the former Michelin factory in Ballymena.

The proposed facility will take non-recyclable waste plastic, destined for landfill, and turn it into pure hydrogen to be used for transport, heating or power generation.

This cutting edge facility will help reduce waste being sent to landfill in NI, whilst increasing the production of fully renewable energy.

The continued development of such projects offers will assist the achievement of NI’s climate targets by providing a source of renewable gas that can be utilised across the power generation, heating and transport sectors.
