Phoenix Energy attend the annual All Island Bioeconomy Summit

All Island Bioeconomy Summit

Phoenix Energy were excited to attend the annual All Island Bioeconomy Summit, held this year in the Johnstown Estate, Meath.

Represented by Energy Transition team members; Lachlan Nally and Mark Irwin, the summit brought together a wide range of businesses and organisations all working on the shared goal of advancing the Bioeconomy across the island of Ireland.

The summit highlighted some of the innovative work happening within the industry such as; Arigna Group in Roscommon, who are Europe’s largest producer of biochar, and Greenville Energy which is operating one of the largest AD plants in Northern Ireland and incorporates biogenic carbon capture and nutrient extraction from digestate.

We also got an update on progress from the Irish Government Ministers and Jonathan McFerran, of DAERA.

The key message from the conference was the benefit of working together, and viewing the industry with all of its key components together. Biomethane isn’t solely about providing renewable energy, but it must be considered as a whole, with the added benefits of decarbonising the agriculture sector, improving soil quality, and boosting the rural economy.

Northern Ireland has the potential to build a world class native biomethane industry with the right support from Government. To read more about this click here.
