Northern Ireland’s largest natural gas distribution company, Phoenix Energy has partnered with Refresh Property Solutions, a home heating and energy service business focussed on delivering affordable, greener home heating solutions, to help consumers across its licence area improve their energy efficiency and reduce household carbon emissions.
The targeted support from Phoenix and Refresh is part of the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP) which provides grant assistance to consumers installing energy saving measures such as installing new energy efficient heating systems, cavity wall insulation and loft insulation.
Newtownabbey resident Leanne Mallett is one of the latest customers to avail of the Phoenix Energy Efficiency Plus support with the installation of a new natural gas home heating system as well as loft insulation. With energy efficiency measures such as these saving householders around £250-£300 a year, Leanne is looking forward to seeing the result of the improvements on her energy bill and she is already enjoying all the benefits of a new, modern natural gas home heating system.
Speaking about her energy efficiency experience with Phoenix and Refresh, Leanne says: “Energy efficiency isn’t something I had really considered, when we bought the house two years ago it came with oil heating but I was really surprised to learn how inefficient it was and in turn how much extra energy we were using to keep the house warm.
“As well as improved efficiency, by moving to natural gas we’ve reduced our home heating carbon emissions by almost half while enjoying all the convenience that comes with natural gas such as having hot water without an immersion heater and access to smart controls which I can access through an app on my phone, meaning the house can be cosy and warm when I walk in the door from work.
“I was amazed at how much space we gained with the removal of our oil and water tanks, giving us more room in the house as well as the garden.
“I wouldn’t have known where to start but the team from Phoenix and Refresh were so helpful and the installation process for the heating system and loft insulation was really smooth with everything completed in a day. I’m delighted with how straightforward the whole process has been and have been recommending Phoenix Efficiency Plus to my family, friends and neighbours.”
Ryan Sykes, Efficiency Plus Manager at Phoenix Energy said, “Improving the energy efficiency of your home is one of the simplest ways to save energy and in turn reduce your energy costs, but for many consumers it can be hard to know where to start.
“The Phoenix Efficiency Plus Scheme not only helps households improve their home efficiency and carbon emissions through moving to an efficient and modern gas heating system, it also looks at the wider energy efficiency of the home and how we can improve it through the simplest of measures such as radiator panels and even LED light bulbs.
“Through the scheme we have already helped more than 100 households to become more efficient and expect the scheme to help reduce carbon emissions by over 210 tonnes per year once complete.”
