Young County Down football players received a warm boost from Phoenix Energy this week as the company provided the U12 County Down Select Team with new outdoor rain jackets to assist with all-weather training in preparation for upcoming tournaments taking place in France this May.
Three teams of budding under 12 footballers, representing 17 clubs throughout County Down, have been selected to participate in the Dirinon International Tournament and the Tournoi National U12 de l’Ouest de la France, with the aim of securing a victory and taking home the silverware.
Club Coach, Colin Murray, said, “We are delighted that Phoenix Energy is supporting local players by providing much needed outdoor kit to help with all-weather training. This competition will see young players from across the County realise their dreams of playing in an international tournament and it is great for the kids to have the experience of staying with French families and immersing themselves in the local culture.
“This is the third year that Killyleagh FC has hosted the pre-event training and it’s always the highlight in the youth calendar. With Phoenix Energy working in the surrounding area, it’s great to see the company supporting local clubs and giving back to the community. The jackets have been a huge hit with the kids and we’re delighted that Phoenix is supporting what is a very exciting opportunity for the young players.”
Phoenix Energy Sales and Marketing Director, Jonathan Martindale, said, “Phoenix Energy is currently working in the Crossgar and Downpatrick areas to extend the natural gas network and bring fuel choice to properties in the area.
“As a company actively engaged in the communities it serves, we are delighted to support the local sporting community and, as a company that has been warming hearts and homes for the past 20 years, it was only fitting to provide the youth team with kit to help them warm up and stay warm throughout outdoor training.
“We wish the team every success in the upcoming tournaments and we look forward to developing the partnership as we continue to serve the local community.”
