Phoenix Energy achieves Gold level in the Business & Biodiversity Charter

Business & Biodiversity Charter

Phoenix Energy is delighted to announce that it has achieved Gold level in the Business & Biodiversity Charter, an external assessment of a commitment to improve biodiversity conservation in Northern Ireland.

The Business & Biodiversity Charter is an initiative of responsible business network Business in the Community, which helps businesses implement biodiversity initiatives and provides external recognition of measures already in place to ensure that plants, animals, bugs, bacteria, habitats and humans can thrive and work effectively and in balance.

Adrian McNeilly, HSE Manager at Phoenix Energy said, “Achieving Gold is a fantastic result for Phoenix and a credit to everyone who has played a part in our biodiversity work. ‘Environmental Responsibility’ is one of four key pillars that make our Responsible Business Programme and this recognition reflects the hard work and passion of our people, and it motivates us to keep building on our efforts to support biodiversity across our sites and the communities we serve.

Playing our part of protecting and enriching the natural environment is central to how we operate as a responsible business in Northern Ireland and this award shows that our commitment is making a real difference. I'm thrilled that Phoenix has been awarded Gold in the Business & Biodiversity Charter.”

Dr Lisa McIlvenna, Managing Director, Business in the Community NI said: “We are delighted to recognise Phoenix Energy with Gold level achievement in the Business & Biodiversity Charter.

Enhancing biodiversity is fundamental for ensuring a sustainable future for all and ensuring long-term business survival. Many businesses and their suppliers rely on stable, healthy ecosystems for their production processes and to treat and dissipate waste, so it is imperative that companies take action to ensure our natural environment is protected.”
