Phoenix Energy, Northern Ireland’s largest gas distribution business, has been announced as the latest organisation to sign up to the JAM Card scheme.
The JAM Card, which stands for Just A Minute, was developed by the NOW Group, an organisation that supports people with learning difficulties and autism into employment. It was their service users who said they would like a discreet way of telling people that sometimes they need a little extra time and patience. Initially designed as a wallet sized card, it has now also developed into an app for smartphone users. It can be used to show that a person might need ‘just a minute’ or more time when doing everyday things such as when using public transport or accessing other services.
Jonathan Martindale, Director of Sales and Marketing at Phoenix Energy says: “We are proud to introduce the JAM Card initiative across our business as it will enable us to better serve our customers and meet the needs of people in the communities we serve. We’ve trained colleagues throughout our business to ensure JAM Card users and anyone who needs a bit more time can feel confident in any interaction with the Phoenix Energy team.
“We are delighted to partner with the NOW Group on such a simple but important initiative that helps make our business even more inclusive.”
Diane Hill, Director of Development at NOW Group says: “We’re really pleased to welcome Phoenix Energy as a JAM Card friendly organisation. In completing the training their employees demonstrate their commitment to providing excellent service to all customers. It is reassuring for customers to know that Phoenix Energy staff will be able to recognise that they might sometimes need just a bit more time.”
