Navigating Decarbonisation: Insights from the NIFHA Development & Asset Management Conference

Nifha Conference Feb 2025

Lachlan Nally, Renewable Energy Projects Manager at Phoenix Energy recently attended the NIFHA Development & Asset Management Conference, focused on the challenges and opportunities facing housing associations as they strive to meet their decarbonisation targets. Experts gathered to discuss a variety of issues including skill shortages, funding constraints, and sustainability challenges, all while emphasising the exciting potential for facilitating regional green growth and advancing upskilling initiatives.

Following the event Lachlan highlighted some key takeaways from the event:

"Achieving the right balance between progressing decarbonisation and enabling a just transition will be crucial. No home or consumer is exactly the same, and the measures for decarbonisation and energy efficiency that apply to one household may not resonate with another."

In line with this vision, Phoenix Energy is actively collaborating with partners—Alpha Housing, Radius Housing, and the NI Housing Executive—to trial innovative Hybrid Heating Systems. These systems effectively blend the reliability and responsiveness of gas boilers with enhanced energy efficiency, providing a user-friendly solution for consumers. Preliminary results from our trials have been encouraging, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable practices.
